Developing a Business Management Platform for Dental Practices
A complete dental business management platform that enables practices to manage procurement, equipment services, laboratory workflows, training, business analytics, and practice operations efficiently from one centralized, integrated system.

One platform for the business of dentistry
We built a complete business management platform that allows dental practices to control their procurement, equipment services, lab, training, business analytics, and practice management from a single system. A platform was created to streamline the daily operations by integrating with several vendors, services, and workflows within a single ecosystem.
It's designed to help dental practices, groups, and dental service organizations (DSOs) have more convenient access to key business services and greater visibility and decision-making into operations. Scalability, reliability, and performance were critical factors considered during development, as there are over 19,000 practices and organizations using the platform.
The aim was to simplify the operations, remove disjointed workflows, and ensure improved data and reporting for practices to aid in their business decision-making.
Unifying procurement, labs, and logins across services
The integration of several business services into one platform was one of the greatest challenges since it involved a consistent user experience. There were various workflows and operational needs for procurement, equipment repair, laboratory services, training, analysis, and vendor management.
Authentication was also a challenge, as users had to access multiple connected applications and services without having to log in to different ones repeatedly. Platform-to-platform authentication needed to be carefully planned for a seamless experience.
As dental practices, vendors, service providers, transactions, and workflows became more complicated, so did the way they have to deal with each other. The platform had to be capable of handling high volumes of interconnected data. The platform needed to be able to process high volumes of data; it was all interrelated and needed to perform well and be reliable.
Reporting was also difficult, as business intelligence (BI) dashboards had to ingest operational and financial data from multiple sources and deliver useful information for practice owners and administrators.
How we built it: React, Material UI, and Laravel
We developed the front end using React and Material UI (MUI) to ensure it is responsive and easy to use in multiple business functions and service areas. The user interface was created to make sure that users can understand elaborate workflows and that it is easier to navigate the platform.
On the back end, we implemented Laravel for business logic, service workflows, reporting processes, and integration across the platform’s modules. MySQL was the main database used for operational data, transactions, vendor data, and practice data.
We used OAuth 2.0-based authentication with a multi-platform authorization workflow to simplify access across multiple services. It enabled users to seamlessly log on to connected systems with a single user experience and minimize friction during the login process.
We developed a multi tenant Saas solution that enabled thousands of dental practices to be independent entities on the same platform. REST APIs were created to enable communication between services and enable future integration.
Reporting dashboards and analytics tools allowed us to gain visibility into our operation's performance, purchasing activity, service usage, and business profitability to help improve decision making. Cloud infrastructure and API optimizations were also put in place to accommodate the platform's scalability and the high number of transactions.
What we shipped: procurement to analytics in one place
We provided an integrated business management solution to bring together procurement, vendor management, equipment services, lab operations, training programs, reporting and practice management processes into a single place. The platform also featured multi-platform authentication, business intelligence dashboards and scalable multi-tenant infrastructure to support thousands of organizations.
The centralized service model eliminated the need for practices to deal with multiple disjointed services and vendors. When organizations adopted the platform, they saved an estimated 30-40% in administrative effort for handling vendor relations and business processes.
Single sign-on and multi-platform authentication minimized the number of logins a user had to make, making access easier and faster and minimizing average authentication-related support requests by around 25-35%.
Reporting and analytics enhancements ensured quicker access to operational information and resulted in a decrease of up to 40–50% in time taken to generate and review business performance data, as compared to manual reporting processes.
The outcome: less admin, better decisions
This solution alleviated time-consuming administration, made business information more accessible, and streamlined the overall experience for businesses with complex dental operations. The platform's scalable design also enabled it to meet the needs of the growing industry and evolving business needs.
Coding Crafts has demonstrated its ability to develop large-scale SaaS-based platforms with multi-tenant architecture, as well as secure authentication mechanisms, business intelligence features, complex backend workflows, and enterprise-grade web apps that can handle large-scale traffic.
Let's build the next one.
